Having qualified for the promotion series courtesy of winning back-to-back NLC Division 2 titles, their campaign saw them beat the two current NLC Division 1 sides Team Singularity and then MNM Gaming.
On 5 November 2021, our NLC journey began with a 2-0 win over Dusty Academy in qualifications which confirmed a spot in 2022 NLC Division 2. We saw this spot as an opportunity, recruiting a talented roster and taking the Spring Split by storm.
Our LoL First Team finished the regular season with a 14-4 record, beating domestic rivals Munster Rugby Gaming 3-0 in the Grand Final. With this title now under their belt the Nativz First Team entered the Summer Split with confidence. Again, they closed the split with a 14-4 regular season record and this time beating opponents Rate Gaming 3-0 in the Grand Final.
We then looked towards the promotion series, with two titles in our back pockets and attention from a wider audience than ever, we knew what we had to do. The team opened their promotions run with a 3-1 win over Team Singularity, a Danish giant in the esports scene who have been in the NLC 1Division since its inception. We then faced MnM Gaming in what can only bedescribed as a clash of titans, two teams so closely matched it went to anintense fifth game of five, but we managed to clinch the victory. With thiswin, just 16 months after Nativz was established, we had secured a place in theprestigious NLC Division 1.
Our Head Coach, Demb, spoke on the promotion saying “We are over the moon with both the promotion and the progress the team and wider organisation have made over the course of this year. However, we are not done yet, next year’s NLC Division 1 season will be where we really prove ourselves as the team to be reckoned with.”
Co-Founder and Chairman Kurt Pittman goes on to say, “The entire team have surpassed our expectations. The challenge for the coaching staff leading into 2022 was to assemble a roster that was top four with the talent to develop and challenge for the top. Its fair to say they can consider this as job done and more.”
