A graduate of UCD, Sam holds qualifications in Information and Political Science. He also has over 15 years of gaming experience here in Ireland and spent the past five years working in esports. He maintains an influential role supporting the growth of Irish esports with Legion who recently stepped in to lead the Irish Collegiate Esports scene.
In May 2021, Molloy co-established Gigabyte Investment where he currently holds the role of Managing Partner. Gigabyte specialise in Digital Asset focused investments, offering Sam a deep insight into the future of the industry, paired with his experience in gaming. One of Gigabyte Investment's key areas of interest is the development of gaming within the Web3 ecosystem and how they will eventually coincide in the future decentralised landscape. Sam is especially interested in how esports organisations will develop alongside the booming digital asset space.
Sam’s influence in the collegiate sector extends into the rapidly emerging Web3 community as an advisor to the recently formed BlockSoc – a student-led Decentralised Autonomous Organisation (DAO) with a purpose to provide a platform for students to build careers in Blockchain.
“I am thrilled to be officially joining the Nativz team as an advisor. From the moment that I met with the team behind the operations, I knew that they were innovation-first as a priority. I am excited to see the professionalisation of the esports scene take place in Ireland, led by the likes of Nativz and particularly looking forward to seeing how the team will innovate and change the landscape in this country forever. I often post about the opportunities that I see for Ireland in the gaming and web3 space, given our status as the European hub for tech. It's about time we build our own native industry, and there's no reason why we can't become leaders in the gaming space.”, says Sam Molloy.
“We’ve been looking for someone to join the Nativz Advisory Board with strong connections into the local gaming community here in Ireland and couldn’t be happier having Sam join the team. Having established the first esports organisation out of Dublin, it’s important that we continue to strengthen our local connections and Sam certainly helps us to do this,” says Co-Founder Kurt Pittman.
“His investment experience in Web3 is a welcome bonus and will also be instrumental, complementing other members of our Advisory Board as we gear up for our upcoming investment round. We’ve got an exciting mix of high level executives helping to develop our organisation across critical disciplines and Sam certainly adds a huge amount of value to this team. Please help us welcome Sam on board.”
