This coming May will see the launch of the Nativz Collegiate Challenge at the upcoming GamerFest Summer event taking place at the RDS, Dublin across 27 and 28 May, the first LAN event for Nativz Collegiate Esports.
The Collegiate Challenge will see University College Dublin (UCD) and Technological University Dublin (TUD) go head-to-head in both Valorant and Rocket League on Saturday 27th May. For the inaugural event, the current top two ranking institutions were selected based on a combination of results across all titles played during the winter season.
GamerFest is adding a second event to the Irish esports calendar with GamerFest Summer in May and GamerFest Winter in October. Nativz Collegiate Series which runs across the island of Ireland is now in the final week of the Spring Semester Split, the second of two that are run each academic year. Both GamerFest and Nativz entered a multi-year partnership back in September 2022.
“When we approached Nativz about collaborating on an idea to profile the Collegiate Series, we wanted to showcase the incredible esports talent that is thriving within Irish colleges and universities. For that conversation to result in a new related event for the Collegiate Series which we can facilitate on our GamerFest Live Stage, in front of a packed audience, is incredibly exciting,” says Stuart Dempsey, GamerFest Dublin CEO.
Nativz Founder Kurt Pittman goes on to say, “We’re delighted to be working with GamerFest to bring this idea to life. When it comes to the Collegiate Series our aim is, and always will be, to continually improve the product for the benefit of the student community. The student group currently playing have asked for LAN events and this is a great way to begin building these in a sustainable way.”
